About
For nearly a decade the Billings Jaycees have partnered with Billings Parks and Recreation to kick off the holiday season with the lighting of the Community Tree at Community Park in historic downtown Billings. The Community Tree used to be lit annually as a vision of hope and healing for those at the children's hospital (now Billings Catholic Schools) across the street. On the first Friday of December the community is welcome to gather as we light the tree as a way to start the holiday season. Participants also have the opportunity to get a free professional photo with Montana Santa & Mrs. Claus and enjoy complimentary cocoa from Big Sky Coffee. In recent years those attending are encouraged to bring new and gently used coats for the annual coat drive that supports Family Services. We kick things off with a welcome from the mayor, a history of the community tree by the Western Heritage Center and local holiday entertainment.
